About Pembroke Welsh Corgis
The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is one of the most recognizable and beloved dog breeds in the world, famous for its short legs, long body, and outgoing personality. Known for being intelligent, affectionate, and loyal, these dogs make great companions for active families and individuals. The breed gained widespread popularity after Queen Elizabeth II received her first Corgi, ‘Dookie’, in 1933. She continued to own several Corgis throughout her life, making the breed quite popular worldwide.
They have a compact body with a long torso and short legs, which gives them their signature appearance. They typically have a thick double coat that is medium in length. Their coat requires regular grooming to keep it in top condition. This breed sheds year-round, with more intensive shedding during seasonal changes. Families are suggested to brush their Corgis 2-3 times a week.
The coat colours can range from red, sable, fawn, black and tan, or tri-colour.
Corgis are known for their friendly and outgoing personalities. They are typically very good with children and other pets, making them an excellent choice for families. They are also highly intelligent and trainable, though they can be independent at times. They are naturally herding dogs and can display this instinct, so early socialization and training are essential.
All our parents are DNA Tested.
Pembroke Welsh Corgis are small, sturdy dogs with a height of around 25-30cm and a weight of 11-13.5kg. However, this could vary depending on the size of the parents and the general health and lifestyle of the dog.
The life expectancy is 12 to 15 years.
