FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a registered breeder?

This would have to be the most asked question. No, we are a licensed breeder. A ‘Registered Breeder’ is a breeder who is a member of a breed association or club whose main focus is pure breeds, blood/genetic lines and showing.

We have a Domestic Animal Business (DAB) where we are licensed to breed dogs. Our DAB is registered with Melton Shire Council where we must abide by Animal Welfare Victoria’s strict breeding regulations based on the Code of Practice for the Operation of Breeding and Rearing. We abide by all laws, programs, and standards to ensure the wellbeing of our dogs are of the highest standard. Being a licensed breeder gives reassurance that we adhere to all the high standards to raise healthy and well tempered pups for you and your family. We are also audited frequently to ensure compliance.

We are registered with Animal Welfare Victoria’s Pet Registry. And we are also members with Responsible Pet Breeders Australia (RPBA).

Are the pups DNA Tested?

All our PARENTS are genetically tested for hereditary genetic diseases through Orivet Genetic Pet Care company. All our pups are DNA clear through parentage.

Can you provide parent DNA documentation?

You are welcome to view a copy of parents DNA documents, however copies will not be supplied due to personal information on the reports and the high incidences of scamming.

Is there any health guarantee?

Yes, we offer, as per Animal Welfare Victoria regulations, a 3-Year Health Guarantee. All our pups will be farewelled with a clean bill of health.

Why do you offer 3-Year Health Guarantees and others don’t?

As licensed breeders, we pride ourselves in adhering to Animal Welfare Victoria’s strict regulations based on the Code of Practice for the Operation of Breeding and Rearing, to breed and raise happy, healthy pups. All our parents are DNA Tested as well as vet checked pre-breeding and post-partum to insure all our parents are in the best health condition to be breeding. It is with this confidence; we adhere to 3-year health guarantees.

Can we meet puppies and their parents before we commit?

You can most definitely come and meet pups and their parents. Occasionally, Sires may be off site for studding purposes, but we will do our very best for you to be able to meet both parents.  We encourage where possible for purchasers to come and meet pups. If for any reason you are not able to come out for a visit, we are happy to accommodate with a FaceTime, video and/or photos. This option is commonly used for interstate purchasers who can’t meet pups in person.

What generation are the pups?

All our pups are first generation (F1) of their breed. As all parents are purebred, so all offspring are first generation.

First generation Cavoodle: Dam pure bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Sire pure bred Toy Poodle

First generation Moodle: Dam pure bred Maltese and Sire pure bred Toy Poodle

First generation Schnoodle: Dam pure bred Miniature Schnauzer and Sire pure bred Toy Poodle

First generation Beaglier: Dam pure bred Beagle and Sire pure bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Will my pup come desexed?

It is in our opinion that pups before four months old are too immature to desex. Traditionally it was recommended to be done between five and six months, however in more recent years and based on scientific evidence, the RSPCA and many veterinarians are recommending that dogs be desexed before they reach puberty, which for some dogs is as early as four months. This is best discussed with your chosen vet.

Will my pup come toilet trained?

Unfortunately, pup’s bladder and bowels are not mature enough at 8 weeks to retain their waste. The ideal time to start training is 12-16 weeks. You can certainly start training at 8 weeks by designating one spot as the ‘puppy toilet’ with puppy pads, newspaper or a fake grass pad. And treating/praising pup if they do their business in the allocated area. Taking pup outside regularly is also vital in successful toilet training.

What support is offered after I take pup home?

May it be days, weeks, months or even years, I am contactable through phone, email and text with any concerns or questions you may have post pup pick up. Photo updates are always welcome too!

Do you breed toy or miniature breeds?

Our Cavoodles and Moodles have TOY Poodle fathers. Our Schnoodles have a Miniature mother and a Toy Poodle father. However, there is no guarantee implied in the sale of our puppies regarding size or weight. Puppies can sometimes grow smaller or larger than their parents, as own children do.

Will their coats change colour?

Their coats can sometimes change colour as their adult coats come through and sometimes after clipping.

Do you send pups interstate?

Yes we do. We can arrange this for you and the transport expense is added to the purchase price of the pup. We use both road and air transportation.

When is your next litter of Cavoodles, Moodles, Schnoodles or Beagliers?

Please feel free to email us at info@lovemyoodle.com.au to enquire about upcoming litters.

If we can’t pick up the pup at 8 weeks, will you hold onto the pup until we are ready?

If your pup cannot be collected within 7 days of them being 8 weeks old, we do offer to hold pup and charge a boarding fee of $50 per week, and $150 per additional vaccination if required.  We don’t encourage this as this is a crucial time in pups’ life for socialisation and them getting use to their new family and environment. However, if an extra couple of weeks is needed, we can definitely discuss the options.  Please note: You will be made aware of when pick up date will be before committing to pup.
